Upper-year Student Residence Application
Please complete and submit the following form. While we cannot guarantee a placement for all those who apply, students who submit this form by Friday, February 14, 2020 and pay the $300 residence deposit will be given priority. After that date, placements will be assigned on an ongoing and individual basis as space permits. Once this form has been submitted, you will be prompted to make arrangements to pay your residence deposit.

Residence Building Information


Rigby Hall- Located just off campus on Forest Hill Road, Rigby Hall includes single and double rooms. Each room includes a washroom and each wing in Rigby is not gender specific. 

Vanier Hall- *Please note that Vanier Hall is scheduled for planned renovations and will not be available during the 2020-2021 academic year. 

Harrington Hall- Located on campus, Harrington includes some single, but mostly double rooms with shared washrooms. All of the wings are gender inclusive with roommates being gender specific.

St. Thomas University residence are inclusive for LGBTQIA+ students. While many spaces are gendered for male or female, Harrington Hall and Rigby Hall are not gender segregated and are welcoming of all gender identities. Harrington Hall has shared all gender washrooms and Rigby has private washrooms in the rooms. 


Holy Cross House- Located on campus, Holy Cross will be the all-female residence for the 2020-2021 academic year. It is STU's smallest residence and includes single and double rooms and shared washrooms.

Residence Preferences
If available and if we can meet your request, which house would you prefer? Please provide us with your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices. 





If you are requesting a single room because of a medical need, you must submit a Professional Support Document completed by your doctor. The form is available here, or online at www.stu.ca/residencelife under Forms. 
Roommate Preferences (Optional)
If you complete this section, the person you request as a roommate must have your name on their application in order for your request to be considered. The Residence Life Office cannot guarantee your choice of roommate. 


Lifestyle/Learning Preferences
This section helps the Residence Life Office determine the type of roommate you will be assigned and must be completed by all applicants. All St. Thomas residences are smoke-free.









Preferred Meal Plan
There are three meal plans from which you can choose. The Freedom Plan is the most popular among residence students because it offers maximum flexibility and value. For more information on meal plans, please click here before selecting your preference, below. Please note: Prices listed are from the 2019/20 academic year. Pricing for 2020-21 will be confirmed in May, 2020. All students in residence are required to participate in our meal plan.

Requests for Changes
Requests for room changes must be submitted in writing to the Residence Life Office (RLO). During the academic year, there will be an application fee of $35 for a room change. For more information, please contact the RLO. 
Room Assignments
Please note that students must pay their $300 Residence Deposit before they can be assigned a room in residence. Room assignments will be mailed out to new students in May and roommate information will be mailed in July. Rooms will be assigned on an ongoing, individual basis throughout the summer. 
Residences are the property of St. Thomas University and residents are subject to the rules and regulations made by the University. If you wish your name and telephone number not be released to your new roommate, please advise the Residence Life Office (residencelife@stu.ca) in writing prior to July 1. 
Agreement
By submitting this application form, I agree to pay all charges as outlined in St. Thomas University Schedule of fees. I understand that I must pay my $300 residence deposit before I can be assigned a room. Rooms will be assigned on an ongoing individual basis throughout the summer upon receipt of the deposit. My residence deposit is refundable if I withdraw my application in writing to the Residence Life Office by June 1 ($300 will be refunded) or July 1 ($150 will be refunded) with the entire deposit being forfeited after July 1 or if I do not use the reserved accommodation. If applying for second semester, deposit is forfeited after December 1. 

The collection and protection of personal information is under the provincial Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act and relevant federal legislation.
